13-Hazel was telling her mom about her and Augustus’s day using humor. Augustus tells Hazel that his cancer has returned. Augustus goes from the normally positive upbeat person he is and tells her what happened like the way that she would break news to him. 14- While on the plane going home Augustus had to take pills to knock him out because he starts having chest pains. The day after they get back Hazel goes to Augustus’s house to accompany him while he’s going through all the treatment stuff. Their conversation ends up about Monica and the chapter closes with them Augustus egging her house. 15- Both sets of parents have dinner together, raving about the good they had in Amsterdam. A week later Augustus lands himself in the ER and Hazel goes and visits. At the end they are seen at the park drinking champagne 16- They start to have a schedule, Hazel going over the Augustus’s house almost every day. He is working on a sequel for An Imperial Affliction but he just can’t seem the time and energy. They play video games and things like that normal couples would do even though they aren’t one. Hazel wishes she could put herself in the position that Augustus would have to save her so he could feel heroic. Dad in and day out this is her life.
