It's Kind of a Funny Story (Blog #4)
How does Craig change by the end of the novel? Do you think he will always battle depression, or will he someday be completely cured? Predict what Craig will be doing in five years.
What did you learn by reading Craig’s story? Do you think teens today suffer more from depression and other psychological disorders, than teenagers from previous generations or they are just diagnosed more often? How can you tell if someone needs help?
Craig has a different view of life by the end of the novel. He will probably always battle depression, but he will learn better ways to deal with it. In five years, he will probably be happy and in art school. More teens don't suffer from psychological disorders, but they are being diagnosed way more often because everyone wants to find some kind of mental illness to explain why they are the way they are. People who don't try to get attention for their problems and don't necessarily use it as an excuse are the people who really need help. If they advertise it, they can probably get through it on their own.
